Will studied exercise science at the University of Leeds, where he discovered an interest in strength and conditioning. After working for 1 year as a personal trainer and gaining further insight into strength and conditioning from Leeds Rhinos RLFC and Leeds Metropolitan University, he embarked on a Masters degree in strength and conditioning at Middlesex University. During his studies, he became a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the NSCA and an Accredited Strength and Conditioning Coach through the UKSCA. After working for a year as the head strength and conditioning coach at the Better Body Shop in Sevenoaks, Kent, Will went to the USA for 3 months where he spent time travelling and learning from some of the best gyms in the country including Performance University, Cressey Performance and the Poliquin Strength Institute.
