Keith Barker

DYMONDstrength Associate Tutor

With an MSc in sport science, Keith is also a UKSCA accredited strength and conditioning coach and 'FMS' Functional Movement Screen certified tutor.  He has an excellent knowledge base and extensive experience of successfully working in a variety of contexts including physical education, higher education, international volleyball, professional rugby league and professional rugby union.  Keith is currently teaching Physical Education and Sport alongside his role as Associate tutor with DYMONDstrength.  
Having joined Leeds Carnegie Rugby Union in February 2009, Keith contributed to several significant achievements including promotion from the championship in 2009 and retaining premiership status in the 2009-2010 season.  In his role as Head of Strength and Conditioning he was responsible for all aspects of strength and conditioning for over forty professional players including two England Internationals.  A senior lecturer in Physical Education and Sport Science at Leeds Metropolitan University from September 2003 Keith had previously been a Physical Education Teacher for eight years.  At Leeds Met he led modules in Strength & Conditioning, Measurement & Analysis of Games Performance, Exercise Testing & Prescription and Physical Education.  Keith also worked as a Strength & Conditioning Coach for Leeds Rhinos Rugby League and the Carnegie Centre for Sports Performance & Wellbeing.  This included leading the strength & conditioning programmes for all Leeds Rhinos academy players, work with Scottish Rugby Union (Exiles) U20’s, National level U23 800m & 1500m athletes and the Leeds Met Volleyball Team.  Keith played volleyball for England between 1990-1999 and 2001- 2005 and has coached both Stoke and Leeds in the national volleyball league premier division.
