Gareth emigrated from South Africa in 1997 at which time he excelled in various sports. During this period he came to appreciate the importance of the support network needed for athletes to excel at the highest level of sport. As a result, he embarked on an academic route towards becoming a Sport Psychologist. Following the attainment of a BSc and MSc in Sport Psychology he was keen to apply this knowledge whilst working with athletes. Currently, he provides sport psychology support to a vast array of national and international standard athletes, many of whom are expected to represent their countries at the 2012 London Olympics. Additionally, Gareth is enrolled on a PhD investigating the usefulness of reflective practice as a tool for athletic development.
